I, Tanisha Poni had a vision a dream if you will, to see a group of girls in community that would be EMPOWERED by one another, instead of intimidated or having thoughts of comparison. They would feel equally HEROIC, as opposed to side kick quality or second best. And they would feel more like SISTERS, than scared or skeptical about their friendships with one another. And just like that, S.H.E ( Sisters. Heroines. Empowered) was born. I have never written a blog in my life nor have I had my own ministry (Good thing He is known for calling the unqualified QUALIFIED!) but, I could not shake this vision and dream so I chose to trust Papa (God) and know He has my back. :) Thank you for stopping by, I hope you stay and get encouraged, have a laugh, get motivated, fired up to pursue a dream, or flat out smile along the way. Loving you, Tanisha Poni

That please isn’t pretty.

Isn’t it relieving to find out you weren’t made to please everybody?

Oh..I’m sorry you probably didn’t know that.. Well let’s get to it then. πŸ˜„

Ahem.. “You weren’t made to please everybody.”

Somewhere along the way we got the words LOVE and PLEASE mixed up.

We weren’t asked to please everyone we were asked to LOVE everyone. (1 John 4:7-8, 1Peter 4:8,etc)
We were created to please ONE. I’m sure by the boldness of that you know who the “one” is, but just in case it’s Papa, God, Jesus, or whatever you like to call Him.

In Galatians 1:10 it says,
“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Yikes. Pleasing and even trying to please man would demote us from serving just Jesus. And I’ll tell you right now you ain’t got the time for all that work just to be demoted from your true heart’s desire (to please HIM)

But let’s get another scripture in there for back up in case it’s needed.

Colossians 3:23 reads,
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men”
NOT men. Whatever you do, do it well yes, but for THE LORD and The Lord only.

Man doesn’t give us validation to keep on living (or doing what we do) so we shouldn’t strive to get it from someone that doesn’t even have the right to give it.

Everything you do is and should be for the audience of ONE.

People around you get to witness this and yes it may provoke transformation or curiosity or whatever else but people are not whom we need to try and get happy or satisfy.

You are NOT responsible for someone else’s happiness or satisfaction. You can always ADD to their happiness or satisfaction but it’s not required nor necessary to strive to do so.

R E L A X. (I love that word so you might see it often πŸ˜„)

You can shake off the lies that try and taunt you with having to be perfect for everyone else, to do whatever it is you do well, just so the people witnessing can be content with you.. Yea..Nah!

You be YOU for HIM.

Cease striving.
Cause honey, people are never quite satisfied by anything other than Papa sized satisfaction. Period.

So shake more off.

I’ll let you in on another truth…

He is ALREADY pleased with you. Right now. 100%. Right where you currently stand. You please Him. He couldn’t be a prouder Papa, He is in awe of you so much so that you’re all He sees when He looks at you! (Deuteronomy 32:10 – sub in “her” for “him” πŸ˜‰) And you did NOTHING. Not one single thing.

Now let that one sit and soak for a bit..

Haha wow how refreshing it is!!

Your Creator is pleased with you as His creation.

Your Papa is pleased with you as His daughter.

Your Friend is pleased with you as His friend.

Your King is pleased with you as His princess.

Your God is pleased with you as His Worshiper.

Rest in that truth today.. You are released from that slave lie in pleasing everyone. If they aren’t pleased with you they better go somewhere with all-a-that! Cause it’s NOT going to effect how you operate and continue to please Him. πŸ’(#shoooot)

Now… Back to my first question,
Isn’t it relieving to find out you weren’t made to please everybody? πŸ˜‰

Loving you,

She laughs.

“…She laughs at what’s to come.” (Proverbs 31:25)

Laughter is more powerful than we may realize..
So let’s do an experiment right now.

I want you to think of a negative lie..Such as, “I’m not good enough.” Or “I’ll never have enough.” (Financially) etc.

Go ahead, really do this before you read on..

Do you feel that? The heart feels like someone just punched it in the stomach.. And the atmosphere around you might as well come with its own grey cloud.. Right? It just feels yucky.

Now I want you to laugh OUT LOUD at those lies (girl I do not care if you’re at work, school,in a meeting, etc. cause you should be paying attention at all those places and now you must look like the goofy girl but oh well..DO IT!) a genuine laugh, and envision the exact opposite (of the lies) and be opened to the truth… Keep laughing!!

More! Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Now how does THAT feel?!
Do you see how quickly your laughter not only shifted your heart’s place but the atmosphere is now beaming with light?!

Isn’t that a sweet experiment? You should do it more often especially when you’re feeling icky.

After all you know laughter is medicine to the soul right?
In Proverbs 17:22 it reads, “A JOYFUL heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

Joyful: feeling, expressing, or causing great pleasure and happiness.

I’m sorry but to me laughter is included in joyfulness..I can’t imagine a joyful person who doesn’t laugh!
So everything that a joyful heart carries is good medicine!

Isn’t that some good piece of news??
I know it is!

Now back to my first scripture..
SHE laughs” is a favorite of mine because it’s directed towards a woman. But it’s powerful because she’s not just randomly laughing she’s laughing at her future!

Can you just let that hit for a moment.. Why would a woman laugh at her future?

Because she knows WHO holds it.

Her laughter isn’t a forced act. It isn’t a nervous laugh. It’s a confident joyful response to whatever is going on around her or within her circumstances. She knows the outcome is great and victorious. To do anything else but laugh (rejoice) wouldn’t do it justice.

If you can’t find a reason to laugh, start with a smile. You can force that initial smile and look at it in the mirror and then smile harder, so hard that you end up laughing on account of how crazy you might look to someone who walks by you witnessing this act. πŸ˜‚
Regardless if that happens or not here’s some hope..

Job 8:21 declares, “He will YET fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting.”

“Yet.” There’s your three letter word packed with encouragement for the week. πŸ˜‰

Your FUTURE.. Is secure. “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned outβ€”plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you THE FUTURE YOU HOPE FOR.” (‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭10-11‬ MSG)

The future you hope for… 😍 if that doesn’t inject a joyful response.. Read it until it does! πŸ˜„

So then my beautiful gem, L A U G H that confident laugh because these are your truths to keep..

And then pass it on: Get around a fellow beauty today who looks like she needs some extra UMPH and unleash that joy over her. You just might make a new friend! 😊

S.H.E paint night!

Last night (October 3rd) we had a S.H.E paint night, where each of the girls painted whatever was impressed on their heart to translate on their canvas. 10 girls showed up (which doubled from the first SHE rendezvous!) and got vulnerable enough to create, even those who’ve never painted before.

I spoke about creativity a tiny bit and how powerful it is. Especially since Papa (God) first showed us His creative side. There’s something so powerful in that truth alone and I’ve yet to gain all the revelation on it but still! Hah

Those girls paintings were crazy amazing. Yes. The ones who never painted.. Or said, ” I can’t do this..” Etc. the pictures they expressed on that canvas were totally Holy. Everyone got to share the purpose of their painting and it just released so much breakthrough in the atmosphere. It was definitely an awesome time together. Each one walked out with a smile on her face and a piece of prophetic art for their room to remember the night by.

I love this. Thank you Jesus!

Promises, Promises

We’ve all had a promise revealed to us sometime or another. Whether it was by reading scripture, relayed to us through a prophetic word or directly from Papa in our quiet times with Him.

When we initially received this promise, it came perfectly wrapped and looked amazing right? We got all excited as if it were about to unwrap before our very eyes within the next 24 hrs.. And then, because it didn’t we held on tight to the fact that maybe these things take a little longer. So we give the promise a more realistic time to unveil… Then that MONTH goes by and still nothing… We try to have faith that it’ll happen eventually and then without even noticing we forget all about it.

You know its funny because when we were little girls and someone in the natural promised us something, we never let them forget it, until we seen that promise fulfilled. I mean hey..we wanted that bike with the basket, handle ribbons, and don’t forget that bell!

We remembered every detail of that promise, and because our hearts were so steadfast in trust to whomever promised our desires to us, we remained faithful in that trust. We had no idea what fear of being let down or hurt was. All we knew was our desire and the freshness of that promise because we kept thinking about it or asking about it.. “Daddy, remember you promised you were going to buy me a bike?”

Unfortunately today, the fear of being let down or getting our expectations to high only to be disappointed has held us back from tenaciously trusting our Heavenly Father at His word. We don’t want to ask Him about it, or declare them out. Because of that “What if, it just wasn’t for me..” or “That person was off on their prophecy..” skepticism.

Oh but what if they were right! And that promise IS for you because every single one in that Bible of yours is!

Speaking of bibles, this scripture has been fluttering around in my spirit for the past month and it just releases so much peace..

Luke 1:45 reads, “BLESSED is she who BELIEVED He would fulfill His promises to her.”

Blessed is SHE.

The word blessed in this context means to be provided with divine favor and protection!

Believe means to believe relentlessly, without needing a sign or an extra confirmation other than taking Papa at His word knowing He is a God of His word.

So, In order to be BLESSED in our promises we have to BELIEVE.

My fellow beautiful ones, this is crucial. To have disappointment or hurt fall be untouchable. It’s time we tell disappointment and all that junk to beat it!

If you remember anything remember the next 3 keys to this..(oh and the scripture.. write that down!)

3 keys to be protected from disappointment/hurt from “unfulfilled” promises:

1. B E L I E V E Him. If you feel Papa specifically promised you something believe Him for it.. don’t give Him time frame ultimatums.. just believe.

2. WRITE out your promises! Document them all, so you have them in front of you during your quiet times with Him and thank Him for them! They should be posted up on your wall more so than that swim suit model is for physical motivation.. have yourself some spiritual motivation girl!

3. DECLARE them out. Declarations are huge. Words create worlds, (Proverbs 18:21) Speak life over your promises instead of death.

Guess what? I don’t care how long it’s been since that promise you so deeply desire to see unwrapped has been given to you. I don’t care if it’s as ancient as the hills. Now you have tools to not care either πŸ˜‰

Lastly, remember Papa knows what He is doing. He isn’t that ex boyfriend, or even like our earthly fathers (regardless how good they are) He is GREATER and He keeps His promises.

So hold on to your trust/faith lovely, He’s not done just yet.

Pep talk for the tough days

Ladies, I feel like some of you are in need of a pep talk in the “life happening now” area of your life here you go:

KEEP GOING. It’s not over..
DO NOT give up..
It IS possible and you WILL succeed!
You are MORE than a conqueror!! (Romans 8:37) MORE THAN! Come on somebody!! πŸ˜„

Ok, now that we got that 10 second pep talk in, let me explain a little more about embracing the process/choosing to find the light IN the tunnel instead of being so desperate to see the light at the end of it.

When you think about it… In life, there isn’t a destination. There’s no moment of arrival.. Or a finish line once we achieve that goal or dream (ultimately success)

Life is a J O U R N E Y.

So why are we all in a hurry??

What if we started to view achieving our goals like a check point (I love check points in video games..It’s like if you end up failing while in route to your next goal you get to come back and lean on your last victory to encourage you to try again because we do go from glory to glory!-2 Corinthians 3:18) and then we pursue the journey to our next dream on the list.

No one said getting to your wildest dreams would be easy but, they do say dreams are worth the pursuit.

So right now.. You might still be in school of some kind.. Still figuring out if you even want to continue doing what you’re doing..majoring in that major…and working part time or full time at a job or two that you might not want to make a career out of, or are learning how to be a housewife like myself! πŸ˜„ etc..etc..

As women it’s easy to over analyze or question our state in life, It happens to all of us at some point. But, we have to be aware that sometimes it isn’t our questions.. the enemy and his confusing questions can pop up such as, “Did God really say…??” (Genesis 3:1) Annoying I know but we have a SOUND MIND remember?! πŸ˜‰ say,”NO” to camping out at self doubt! πŸ’ͺ

C H O O S E to find the light in the dark tunnel. (the process)

Choose to rejoice in the fact that you’re well on your way. (Philippians 3:12-14) The worst thing you can do is be in a rush.. There’s not a time limit on your accomplishments, yes there’s a ticking clock.. But you are the one who is in control of how much time you have.. You truly are. You’re capable of MAKING time. So make it.

A hero of mine once said,
never compare your beginning to someone else’s middle” and it struck me.
As Americans there’s this ugly thing that got rooted within us to “get” in order to achieve the fullness of life. And to do it FAST. Now! Now! Now! Cause if you don’t you’re going to be left behind..

Well my heroines, life does keep moving on and people around you may seem to be in a way better spot, But your life and all the opportunities/seasons that should come within it aren’t one of those infomercials on tv where you gotta “act now!” to get the two for one special or “call in the next 15 minutes or this deal is gone!

This is a lie. You have more than enough time.. If an opportunity comes up it won’t be the last time.. Don’t feel pressured to take EVERY opportunity that presents itself well either (they may not be all they seem.. Pray about them and then obey Papa at His word πŸ˜‰)

So pace yourself..

Take the “scenic route” in your amazingly beautiful life and intentionally enjoy the view along the way. You’ll see things more clearly that you may not have noticed before because then it was just a blur.

Be confident in the TRUTH that you are gaining ground.. There’s much greatness stored up within you and Papa loves you too much to leave you where you’re at! Just don’t be in a hurry to “get there..”
No matter if you end up taking a wrong turn..(or what you think is a short cut), He always ends up working things out for the good in perfect timing.. 😊 (Romans 8:28)

So milk this encouragement! Soak it all up and allow it to soothe your mind and give you a bit more clarity on your wonderful pursuit in life.

Just remember these three things (if anything):
1. You’re BRILLIANT and well on your way.
2. Don’t be in such a rush.. Remember life is a journey.
3. Rejoice in your process and high five others who have surpassed you..cause in your own timing you’ll be there.
4. (Yea it’s my blog I can add a bonus one) Be your biggest cheerleader.. Fuel your journey with life words!

Lastly this gem of a scripture (referenced above) that helped and continues to help me enjoy the process..
“I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onwardβ€”to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.” (‭Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭12-14‬ MSG)

That’s it I’m done.
Get out of here beautiful and go enjoy your process! πŸ˜ƒ

Overthinking and The Sound Mind.

You know those moments where a certain thought pops into your mind and it’s just ONE thought but it ends up turning into a long drawn out picture in detail of every different scenario or avenue it could possibly take? Yea. That’s called OVERTHINKING.

Yes, unfortunately it happens to all of us but, statistics show we as women tend to deal with it more than men. 😐 It happens in our prayer time even..we will be steady focused on praying and one trigger word comes out our mouth and whoop there it is, the thought trail!

So what causes it? And why does it “naturally” happen in certain situations?
Well I have a theory..

Worry is the root to overthinking. And worry comes from FEAR. Ouch. I know, It hurts so good right? None of us want to know we worry because it highlights an area we need to work on but, it can be taken care of!

Anytime a negative comes up the opposite is what we are usually lacking.. What’s the opposite of fear? L O V E, and we got that!

2 Timothy 1:7 declares we have already been given love, but not just love! It says we also have power and a SOUND MIND! Praise Him! That scripture has been recited over and over and to some probably worn out but, to me it’s one of the most powerful declarations and truths in the bible! It’s for US and in there for a reason, to hold onto in moments where worry (overthinking) can try to rise up.

The bible also says not to worry..about ANYTHING! Period. Did you know that?! In Philippians 4:6-9, “Don’t worry. Instead of worrying, PRAY. Let petitions and PRAISES shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, EVERYTHING coming together for the good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ Displaces worry at the center of your life.”

(If you haven’t found out by now I like relaying certain scriptures out of the MSG version because it just keeps it real ya know?!πŸ˜‰)

He gave us the antidote right there in black and white lovelies, 3 things that will allow Love to burst forth and wipe out worry/fear…
1) do not worry about anything
2) pray about everything
3) thank God for everything

That’s it! Simple enough.😊

So chew on these hearty verses my beauties and let that upcoming project, deadline, test, bill, healthy confrontation, doctor report or whatever it may be think about itself. You HAVE a sound mind. So don’t worry. 😁
